Buddy Blake's Bday Party
We went to Kayden's friend Blake's birthday party tonight - it was a pool party and it was the PERFECT weather for it! The food was delicious and the decorations were so cute!
Kayden and his buddy Charlie had a great time playing in the water together!
and of course they had a bounce house which Kayden kept going back to again and again!

Visit to Grandma and Grandpa's
Kayden and I decided to head to Grandma Mary and Grandpa Jan's for the weekend (since Daddy had to work all weekend) and the weather was going to be beautiful! We went to Crystal Lake Park in Urbana and had such a good time - we had planned to take a paddleboat ride but they don't open until 12:00 and we were there around 9! So we roamed around the park checking everything out. They had these BEAUTIFUL tulip trees - I want one of these for my yard!!
And rushing rivers - Kayden had to check it out with Grandpa! I was waiting for Kayden to drop his shoe over the edge but luckily everything stayed on.....
...except for his pants! Did I mention that the shorts I packed for him were a little too big?? They were fine if I rolled them but the minute he started running down the path, they would fall down to his ankles. Luckily, he thought it was really funny and just kept pulling them back up!
They had a cool water feature (which yes, Kayden stepped into and slipped!)
and the water feature ran all the way down a stream and into the lake. Kayden was having fun throwing sticks into the stream and watching them float down. A couple times, he got a little too close and we were certain he was going to float into the lake WITH the sticks!!
Grandma insisted that we see the Labyrinth at the park.....a place of meditation...

{2nd Annual MoTHeR'S DaY PiCnIc}
Kayden and I met Grandma Mary and Grandpa Jan today for our 2nd annual Mother's Day picnic - it was a beautiful day (although a little chilly when the clouds came by!) and we had a great time!
Kayden enjoyed kicking the soccer ball around, blowing bubbles and most of all, skipping rocks with Grandpa!!

Kayden being a little cheesy with Grandma Mary and Grandpa Jan!
Mommy and Grandma Mary
Kayden's favorite part of the day (except for the rock skipping of course!) was the chocolate covered strawberries that Grandma made - they were delicious!!
We had such a good time - thanks again for meeting us!! And Happy Mother's Day!

2 YeaR STaTS
Kayden went to the dr today for his 2 year checkup and he is definitely our long and lean boy! He weighed in at only 27 pounds (25th percentile) and 34 inches tall (50th percentile). He is doing well with his talking - adding new words to his vocabulary every day and even stringing together 2-3 words to make little sentences - it is so cute!! His favorite words are 'beak' for bike which he HAS to ride EVERY day, 'dide' for outside which is where he ALWAYS has to be (mommy enjoys it on nice days!) and 'no daddy' which is soooo funny! His other often used words are ball, doggie, please, thank you, up, down, high, cheese, mommy, daddy, yes, no, blue (which everything is!), pee pee, and many more which I'm sure I am forgetting at the moment.
He is still sleeping really well - going to bed between 6:30 and 7 and sleeping until 7-7:30 (we've had a few days that he slept til 8:30 - THAT was nice!!). He also takes one nap a day - generally 2.5 hours! We know that we have a good sleeper on our hands -hopefully the next baby takes after his/her older brother!
And the dr was impressed that Kayden is going on the big boy potty at least 3-4 times a day and told me that we need to start trying to potty train him since he is showing such interest in it (rare, I guess, for a 2 year old boy!) - so we will be trying that in the next few weeks....stay tuned for the results!!
